Progressive Pipeline recruits underrepresented students and places them in paid summer fellowships with progressive campaigns and organizations. Then, we offer them the training, mentorship, and connections they need to become tomorrow’s leaders.
We look for students with the passion, skills, and drive to organize their communities –– students who too often don’t have the resources or connections to launch careers in politics. We use simulations that measure people skills and ability to learn, not past political experience.
We place our fellows in paid organizing positions with progressive campaigns. As field organizers, they connect with voters, manage volunteers, deliver trainings, and lead phonebanks, both gaining on-the-ground field experience and helping progressives win.
Before the fellows hit the ground, we offer them interactive organizing training and intensive coaching. Fellows learn how to tell their stories, make big asks, and move others to action so that they’re ready to go on day one.
The best organizers can be the hardest to find, so we do what it takes to reach them, from contacting tens of thousands of teachers at every university in America to leading info sessions and organizing workshops on college campuses.
After the summer, the fellows join our alumni community, and we stick with them through continued leadership development, career coaching, and connections to our Talent Network –– a community of organizations committed to hiring our fellows once they graduate.
If you’ll be 18 by June 1, 2021 and are interested in launching a career in progressive politics, you should throw your hat in the ring! Students from all class years, majors, and schools (including community colleges) are welcome to apply, as are recent graduates. We don’t have a GPA requirement and we don’t expect or require past political experience.
Yes! You’ll receive a $4000 - $6000 stipend for the 10 week fellowship. The fellowship is a full-time commitment.
All of our training will be online, but we’re not sure yet whether it’ll be safe to organize in person next summer. We’ll monitor the status of the pandemic and make a decision with health and safety in mind. We’ve already run two successful online fellowships, so we’re confident that this’ll be an awesome experience either way.
Absolutely not! The Progressive Pipeline fellowship is a starting point for students who are passionate about progressive causes and eager to organize their communities but who might not have conventional political or organizing experience. We’re excited to help you launch your career.
The fellowship will run from the first week of June through early August, after part-time training in April and May. Fellows will participate in the program full-time, potentially including some evenings and weekends.
You should hear back from us with next steps within a few weeks of applying. We plan on finalizing the cohort at the end of March. In the meantime, we’ll be in touch with news, updates, and additional resources.
The application deadline is Friday, March 19 at 11pm Eastern, but we'd encourage you to get the ball rolling as soon as possible! If you apply now, you'll likely hear back with next steps before the deadline.
Feel free to send a note to hello@progressive-pipeline.org and we’ll get back to you as soon as possible.
